Born 1953 in Basel, Switzerland, Fritz Hauser has developed his sound language in the most varied of ways. With solo concerts, in numerous small and large formations, in multi-media projects in theatre, dance, film, radio, visual arts, architecture and with numerous recordings, he has contributed to the development of the drum-set from a mere timekeeper to an instrument. - His concert tours have taken him through Europe, Russia, to Canada, the USA, the Middle East, to China, Australia, and Japan. - Fritz Hauser has brought the work of the most varied of composers to the worlds attention, including pieces for solo percussion from John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Rob Kloet, Bun Ching Lam, Joey Baron, Stephan Grieder, Pierre Favre, Mani Planzer, Robert Suter, Warren Smith, Franz Koglmann, Art Clay and others. - In the area of improvised music he has worked with numerous musicians including Urs Leimgruber, Joelle Leandre, Marilyn Crispell, Christy Doran and Lauren Newton. In the field of percussion he plays regularly with the quartet Pierre Favre, Fritz Hauser, Daniel Humair and Fredy Studer, and since the Stockholm International Percussion Event in 1988 he collaborates with various percussion soloists and ensembles the world over; Kroumata, Steven Schick, Keiko Abe, Synergy Percussion, Amsterdam Percussion Group, Nexus, Jean Geoffroy included.
