Stephan Lauffer

Stephan Lauffer was born in and currently lives in Winterthur. He trained as a primary school teacher and studied the violin and viola at the music school in Winterthur. He was employed as a primary school teacher from 1983 until 1990 in Oberwinterthur and from 1992 until 2006 in Fällanden. He currently works as a freelance musician and theatre educationalist.
Stephan studied at the Seminar für Schulmusik I at the conservatory in Zurich from1990 until 1992, then trained as a choir leader (under the tutelage of Karl Scheuber, Jürg Rütti und Eva Rüegg et al.) and orchestra conductor (under the tutelage of Urs Schneider). He continued his composition studies under the tutelage of David Angel at the conservatory in Schaffhausen. From 2000 until 2009 he trained as a theatre educationalist (MAS) at the Zurich University of the Arts.
Stephan Lauffer is the founder and director of the "Theaterchischte Välte", a musical-theatre stage for children, and the director of various choirs including the Catholic Church Choir Dübendorf and the "Plauschchor Mönchaltorf" choir. He has been the musical director of several open-air theatre performances and will be the director of the 2010 "Passionsspiel Dübendorf".
