Walter Feldmann

Following his undergraduate studies Walter Feldmann studied French, Latin and musicology at the University of Zurich and flute under the tutelage of Dominique Hunziker in Aarau. He is the flutist of diverse Swiss and international orchestras and a member of the ensemble 'Les joueurs de flûte'. He is a self taught composer.
1986 - First compositions
1991 - Establishes the Ensemble S (Zurich) and is the artistic director thereof
1993 - Attends the 'Académie d'été am Ircam', Paris
1994 until 2003 - Artistic director of the international music festival 'Tage für Neue Musik Zürich'
1996 - Summer course in music informatics at IRCAM
1999 - Sabbatical year for composition awarded by the city of Zurich
2003 - Fellowship prize awarded by the Pro Arte foundation
Walter Feldmann works in very close cooperation with the choreographer Gabriel Hernández (tHEL danse) in Paris. He lives and works in Zurich. His main work, for which all his earlier works stood as stages in the development of, - 'monstrueuse vécut dans le cadre' la mémoire for viola and large ensemble in six groups after a text by Anne-Marie Albiach - was world-premiered by Odile Auboin and the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris, December 2004.
